One of the biggest prizes in the northern Lemhi Range, popular for its substantial 2,517 feet of prominence.
From a shoulder on the peak's lower flank, follow it south-southeast to about 8,200 feet to gain the West Ridge. Follow the ill-defined ridge east to treeline, then scramble east on reasonably stable talus to the summit, which holds a silver USGS benchmark set in a ground boulder. Big Creek Peak is often combined with neighboring Flatiron Mountain via the connecting ridge, a straightforward 20-minute descent to a narrow, rocky saddle at about 10,500 feet.
