Permit Required
Day use requires only a self-issue Alpine Lakes Wilderness permit at the trailhead and a Northwest Forest Pass for parking. Overnight camping anywhere in the Core Enchantment Permit Area requires a separate permit obtained through a competitive lottery that opens in February, or a limited number of same-day walk-up permits from the Leavenworth Ranger Station.
Route Description
A lesser-visited scramble deep in the core Enchantment Basin, typically reached as an extension of the long approach over Aasgard Pass.
Approach
Approach via the Stuart Lake Trailhead, Colchuck Lake, and Aasgard Pass as for Dragontail Peak, then continue into the upper Enchantment Basin toward the peaks near Prusik Pass. From the basin, gain Cannon Mountain's northeast ridge and follow it to the summit on Class 3 terrain.
Descent
Descend the northeast ridge back into the Enchantment Basin and retrace the long approach out via Aasgard Pass and Colchuck Lake.
