The highest point on the Continental Divide in the Beaverhead Mountains, straddling the Idaho-Montana border in wide-open, sparsely-populated high country.
From Interstate 15 at Dell, Montana, take exit 23 onto the Westside Frontage Road; after 1.5 miles turn onto Big Sheep Creek Road. Follow it 17.4 miles to the first Nicholia Creek Road sign, staying left for Nicholia Creek, then continue 6.4 miles to a second Nicholia Creek Road sign. From there it is 0.8 miles to the first Harkness Lakes sign, then 1.4 miles to a second Harkness Lakes sign marking the approach to the lakes and the peak beyond. From the Harkness Lakes / Big Sheep Creek Basin area, scramble up the peak's northeast ridge to the summit -- the easiest way to the top.
