Montana's southernmost point sits on this peak's ridge, which has two summits and is notorious among Idaho peakbaggers for some of the worst talus in the state.
From the junction of ID-28 and ID-33 in Mud Lake, drive north on ID-28 for 42.5 miles to the signed Nicholia Road (6.1 miles north of the Kaufman Picnic Area). Follow signs into Scott Canyon on trail FST-006 to a large grassy meadow at a fork in the canyon, which serves as the trailhead parking area with some dispersed camping. The Southwest Ridge route starts at a 10,000-foot pass on the peak's southwest ridge, reached via a left fork off the main canyon trail toward the saddle between Huh's Horn and Italian Peak. From the pass, the route climbs to the West Summit.
