Idaho's second-highest peak, a distinctive summit easily seen from US-93 but genuinely difficult to reach from either side of the range.
Access is from the East Fork Pahsimeroi Trailhead on the east side of the range; the drive in from US-93 is rough 4WD road and takes about an hour. From the trailhead, follow the trail toward Pass Lake, keeping Leatherman Peak on your left. Between Peak 11,909 and Leatherman, head up the scree gully leading toward the northeast ridge; this line holds enough solid rock patches to make for reasonable climbing, in contrast to much of the surrounding terrain, which is loose scree throughout. The true summit stays in view for the entire climb, with no false summits to contend with.
