A striking, pyramid-shaped laccolith that towers over the Big Sky Resort ski village -- one of the few named summits in this project that can be reached partly by ski lift.
From Bozeman, take Highway 191 south about an hour to Big Sky, turn onto Route 64 (Big Sky Road), and after about seven miles turn into Big Sky Resort. The climb follows alongside the resort's dual ski lifts starting at Big Sky Mountain Village (about 7,550 feet), on slopes of 10 to 30 degrees, to the top of the lifts at 9,200 feet. From the top of the lifts, two non-technical routes lead to the true summit. It is roughly a 2.5-mile climb from the base parking lot, or about 0.5 miles if starting from the highest lift station (which can also be used, with the lift itself, to shorten the descent).
