A scree-slope walk-up on the mountain's south side, usually climbed together with neighboring Mount Lago from a shared high camp deep in the central Pasayten.
Drive Hart's Pass Road past Hart's Pass to the Slate Pass Trailhead (about 6,900 feet). Follow the Robinson Creek/Middle Fork Pasayten trail network to a high camp in the Lago-Carru area — options include Fred's Lake, Lake Doris, or a bench near Shellrock Pass around 7,500 feet. From camp, cross the basin toward Carru's south side; the slope here is covered in loose scree but is non-technical, in contrast to the mountain's steep north face.
Descend the south slope scree back to camp; the same terrain that eases the ascent makes for fast, if dusty, glissading-style descent.
