A prominent satellite cone of Mount Shasta in California's Cascade Range -- geographically and administratively unrelated to every other peak in this project, which are all Rocky Mountain summits in Montana and Idaho.
From the Bunny Flat Trailhead (about 6,900 feet) on Mount Shasta's south side, hike 1.7 miles to Horse Camp, home to the Sierra Club's historic Shasta Alpine Lodge (built 1923) and a seasonal spring. From Horse Camp, the West Gully Route -- a well-traveled trail and snowfield line -- climbs directly toward the saddle between Shasta and Shastina and on to Shastina's summit, without needing to first summit Shasta itself (a common combined route climbs both peaks together via Avalanche Gulch and a traverse across the head of the Whitney Glacier, but the West Gully offers a more direct, standalone line to Shastina alone).
Most parties descend the same West Gully Route back to Horse Camp and Bunny Flat.
