The highest point of the White Knob Mountains, a dry, largely treeless range squeezed between the Big Lost River Valley and Copper Basin.
Access is via Antelope Pass (elevation 8,934 feet), reached on Challis National Forest Road 135 from either the north (via the Trail Creek road connecting Highway 93/Mackay with Ketchum) or the south; a high-clearance 4WD vehicle is recommended, as the road gets rocky south of the Copper Basin Guard Station. From the pass, hike north across a windswept, largely treeless divide toward the White Knobs, with Shelly Mountain prominent ahead; the route climbs the southwest ridge to the summit, roughly 4.4 air miles from the pass, passing over sedimentary rock layers with visible marine fossils near the top.
