Likely the most remote of all the Beartooth 12,000-foot summits, requiring a long cross-country approach from the south, but rewarded with a gentle, non-technical finish.
Access is from the Clay Butte Trailhead off the Beartooth Highway (US 212) south of Beartooth Pass. From there, a long cross-country trek of at least a dozen miles leads north past Flat Rock Lake and into the heart of the range, well beyond any maintained trail. The peak itself has a rugged north side but a very gentle south side; from the Flat Rock Lake approach, the south slopes are a straightforward talus and tundra walk to the broad summit plateau.
