An imposing peak at the head of Wildhorse Canyon, visible from nearly every other summit in the central Pioneers.
From the Trail Creek Summit / Copper Basin road out of Sun Valley, turn south into Wildhorse Canyon; the trailhead for the Boulder Lake Trail (FST-057) is just before Wildhorse Campground (an unbridged creek crossing is usually forded in August). Follow the trail up switchbacks for half a mile, cross Boulder Creek, and climb along its left bank as the creek cuts through a small canyon. After a second creek crossing, watch for a cairn marking a faint right-hand fork toward Boulder Lake and the peak (continuing straight leads to a large meadow and eventually Boulder Lake itself). From the saddle, rather than following the ridge north, contour around the northwest face and choose a line up its gullies to the summit block.
