A subsidiary summit of Beartooth Mountain, rising sharply above the Lake Fork valley southwest of Red Lodge.
Thunder Mountain is a satellite peak of Beartooth Mountain and sits in the same Lake Fork of Rock Creek drainage; the Lake Fork Rock Creek Trailhead is the logical access point, though a route description specific to Thunder Mountain's easiest line was not found beyond its official Class 2 rating.
