The third and most independent of the San Miguel Mountains' Wilson group summits, often climbed on its own via the Rock of Ages approach rather than combined with Mount Wilson and El Diente.
The most direct standard approach is the Rock of Ages (Silver Pick) trailhead, which reopened with CFI's help after access difficulties with a local landowner in the area; an entirely new trailhead was established for this route. From the trailhead, the approach is Class 2 the entire way to the Rock of Ages Saddle at about 13,000 feet. From the saddle, continue up Wilson Peak's southwest ridge, with Class 3 scrambling and real exposure in the upper section, to the summit at 14,017 feet.
Reverse the southwest ridge back to the Rock of Ages Saddle and down to the trailhead.
