The Washington section of the PCT traverses 500 miles of some of the most dramatic mountain terrain in the contiguous United States, from the Columbia River to the Canadian border at Manning Park. It passes through the Goat Rocks Wilderness, Mount Rainier National Park, the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, Glacier Peak Wilderness, and the North Cascades.

History

The Pacific Crest Trail was designated a National Scenic Trail in 1968 and completed in 1993. The Washington section is considered the most remote and challenging of the three state sections, with significant snowpack lingering into July and numerous remote passes above 6,000 feet.
