The full Hoh River Trail travels 17.4 miles from the visitor center through ancient rainforest to the base of Mount Olympus at Glacier Meadows. The transition from lowland rainforest to alpine meadow is one of the most dramatic ecological transitions in the Olympic Peninsula.
From the Hoh Rain Forest Visitor Center, follow the well-maintained trail up the Hoh River valley through cathedral Sitka spruce forest. After Five Mile Camp, the valley narrows and the forest transitions to subalpine fir. The trail ends at Glacier Meadows Camp (4,200 ft) with views of the Blue Glacier icefall above.
Drive 19 miles south from US-101 on Upper Hoh Road to the Hoh Rain Forest Visitor Center. Olympic National Park entrance fee required. Wilderness permit required for overnight stays.
