The only route on Lassen Peak is a maintained hiking trail from the Lassen Peak Trailhead to the summit, making it the most accessible Cascade volcano summit. The trail gains 2,000 feet through volcanic terrain with excellent views of the surrounding park.
From Lassen Peak Trailhead (8,500 ft) on Highway 89 through Lassen Volcanic National Park, follow the maintained trail switchbacking up the southwest flank of the peak through volcanic talus and summer snowfields to the summit. No technical skills required.
Park at the Lassen Peak Trailhead on Highway 89. The highway through the park is typically open June through October. Park entrance fee required.
